Artist’s Statement:
Even as a young child I spent a lot of time in my fathers' shop, tinkering with mechanical things, always trying to invent some new device. Later I explored mechanics, welding and metal sculpture, searching for the right medium to express my ideas. I continued to seek an environment where my creative interests could be more fully investigated.
My exploration of glass has fostered an enormous awakening in me, inspiring a continuing study of a timeless medium. In glass I am able to challenge myself technically, and develop a vocabulary as an artist that was not available to me before. Since my initial introduction to glass blowing I have refined my approach and my ideas, and continue to be inspired by the breadth, flexibility and responsiveness of the medium.
I built a studio that permits me to fully manifest my ideas in to blown, cast and sculpted glass, as well as metal fabrication. I continue to seek projects that allow me to bring my work before a wide range of audiences.
Glass is beautiful, mysterious and symbolic. Activated by heat and light it can be a source of comfort, inspiration, and intrigue, making it highly appropriate for the corporate or residential environment.
